Guess I can try it.

[she'll go ahead and sit down. this is kind of fancy?]

Anything in particular you wanted to talk to me about?
overlimit: (i don't even like you really)

[personal profile] overlimit 2021-06-16 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[she'll sip it...

...yeah it's not bad.]

Hm. I don't usually do social calls just for the hell of it, but...

[she's already here, oh well]

My research...?

Right... I guess we did say we'd talk about it later.

... I've devoted most of my life to the study of blastia, a sort of magic technology. We relied on them for everything. Heating, cooking, providing clean water to cities, and generating barriers to keep monsters out.
overlimit: (Might need a calculator for this.)

[personal profile] overlimit 2021-06-17 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
From what I've seen, that might not be far off.

But, despite how much we relied on them... it turned out that the use of blastia had devastating effects on the world. [she stares down into her teacup, distant...]

So we had to find another way.
overlimit: (Waste of time.)

A way to convert blastia cores into spirits... living beings made of pure magic.

[her expression grows a little lighter.]

They've been willing to lend us their power, and with their help, we're going to find a way to move forward.
overlimit: (look it's a convenient distraction)

[personal profile] overlimit 2021-06-17 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
Putting it that way sounds kind of weird... but in a way, yeah. We've already come up with some formulas to borrow their power in order to perform magic... and I've got an idea of how we might be able to develop new technology using this power.
overlimit: (saw this coming)

[personal profile] overlimit 2021-06-17 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well... I'm not personally overseeing what all the other mages do, or anything like that.

But I've made some of the first working spirit magic formulas, so I guess I've got a head start as a leading researcher in the field.

[...she sounds pretty pleased with herself.]
overlimit: (My brilliance: let me show it to you.)

[personal profile] overlimit 2021-06-17 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Hmph. What, you were going to underestimate me just because I'm a little younger than most mages?

[it's definitely not 'a little', but

she's got a bit of a smug grin on her face still.]
overlimit: (That's the logical outcome.)

[personal profile] overlimit 2021-06-17 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. [she takes a sip of tea...]

You know a lot of mages?
overlimit: (look it's a convenient distraction)

[personal profile] overlimit 2021-06-17 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Through the officer's academy?
overlimit: (I'm sure you'll get to the point someday)

[personal profile] overlimit 2021-06-17 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Guess that makes sense. The knights have a few mages in their ranks where I'm from, too.
overlimit: (Too bad.)

[personal profile] overlimit 2021-06-17 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose. I don't have any experience with large-scale battles, but the same is pretty much true for small, everyday stuff.
